We spent a fantastic afternoon yesterday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Lord March who owns Goodwood is a proud Naim Supernait owner and it was a real treat to experience many other fine, high performance examples of the best of British engineering in action.
Looks like my next company car is just going to have to be the Lotus Exige we saw, seeing as it…

Let’s face it, despite what we were promised for the 21st century - an automated future with robots fulfilling our every whim, levitating cars and tiny hand held devices containing a lifetime’s collection of music (OK Apple, I’ll give you that last one) the reality is that we find ourselves with less and less time for the important things in life. Music for the majority of people these days is…

I would like to extend a warm thank you to Paul Messenger for submitting this interview he conducted with Julian for us to use on the blog and also to Alan Sircom of Hii Plus for giving us permission to reproduce it.
Introduction
The main man at Naim Audio and engineer par excellence, Julian Vereker's enormous influence on British hi-fi was formally recognised by an MBE for export in 1995. Paul Messenger talks to him about the inception of the NAP250, how the company and…

I am delighted to have been invited to be a guest blogger at the Tom Tom Club, not least because it means that I get to play with superb kit that is usually reserved for the inner circle of Naim devotees in the reviewing fraternity. James got me in at the deep end with full 500 series of electronics, an experience that left me feeling very sorry when it had to go back as you might imagine. But to paraphrase Tennyson, it is better to have listened and lost than never to have listened at…

When it comes to turntable set up there can be no safer pair of hands than renowned analogue legend Derek Jenkins, and we are delighted to announce that Derek will be fettling all our turntables from now on.

I began buying music in the early eighties when I was at secondary school aged about 12 and playing it on my parents ‘music centre’. At the time I was massively into rock music, Rainbow, Iron Maiden, that sort of thing.
By the mid-eighties I completely bought into the tales of perfect sound quality from CD. As soon as I started earning a little bit of money I bought my first system from an independent high street shop in Walsall. I hadn’t a clue what I was doing. I just asked for a…

Hello all, those of you who have visited Tom Tom will be well aware that I have a very bad habit when it comes to collecting rare Naim items and we're setting up a museum here at the Green Room for you to come and see these wonderful pieces of history.
From time to time we'll be sharing some of these items on the blog starting with the prototype NAP 500 amplifier that was built for Julian Vereker to 'sign off' for production before his untimely death,
This is truly my most…

Here we are James. Sorry to be posting these so late. There is slight distortion on the photos due to the wide angle lens I used.
The system has settled in well now following the Fraim. Sounds awesome but I can't…

Well thanks to the Festival of Sound demo I find myself quite a bit poorer having ordered both a new NDS and a new 555ps dr. Having previously heard the NDS a few times I was convinced of its merits over the NDX but what I hadn't bargained for was the significant improvements made by the dr upgrades.
Having explored the timescale and likely cost of upgrading my own 555ps I succumbed to ordering a new one.
As always James extracted the money (and some of my current Naim kit)…
