James was after potted histories so here goes (though not sure I know what a blog is and I daren't ask my daughter!)
First Naim product: 2nd hand 42.5 / 110 (with 140 boards)
Current System (Deep breath): XPS2 CDX2 NDAC 252 SUPERCAP2 300 Kudos Titans and not forgetting the Well Tempered Amadeus (anyone for Golf?)
My Naim story –
Buying the 42.5 / 110 turned out to be a very expensive exercise as my wife and I were also treated to a demo of the unreleased SBLs complete with the (then) state of art front end of LP12, Ittok, Troika plus 32.5 pre amp and four 135s (one per cone) with the hi-cap powered active cross-over. From that moment the die was cast (and luckily my wife, Anne, was indoctrinated as well).
Upgrades have been reasonably spaced out every few years. Highlights included hearing the CDI for the first time (Beverly Craven breathed in for Promise Me and Anne whispered "sold"!), and initially running SBLs with the aforementioned 42.5 / 110 and a Michel Syncro! I loved the 282/Hi-cap combination I ran for many years and it was only with the 300 that I finally "got" what the 252 was about.
The SBLs had savoured every upgrade before finally succumbing to old age (they were getting rather strident after 18 years!). The Titans are only my third ever pair of speakers and are the newest addition and hopefully will repeat the 18 years service of the SBLs
What next .....well I keep hoping I've finished but the process of ripping all my CDs is nearly finished and that NDS sounded astounding to me at the FoS. Now where did Anne hide my credit card???
