I am delighted to have been invited to be a guest blogger at the Tom Tom Club, not least because it means that I get to play with superb kit that is usually reserved for the inner circle of Naim devotees in the reviewing fraternity. James got me in at the deep end with full 500 series of electronics, an experience that left me feeling very sorry when it had to go back as you might imagine. But to paraphrase Tennyson, it is better to have listened and lost than never to have listened at…Continue

When it comes to turntable set up there can be no safer pair of hands than renowned analogue legend Derek Jenkins, and we are delighted to announce that Derek will be fettling all our turntables from now on.
With nearly 40 years experience with Linn, Roksan, Rega, Pink Triangles and all manner of other…Continue
I began buying music in the early eighties when I was at secondary school aged about 12 and playing it on my parents ‘music centre’. At the time I was massively into rock music, Rainbow, Iron Maiden, that sort of thing.
By the mid-eighties I completely bought into the tales of perfect sound quality from CD. As soon as I started earning a little bit of money I bought my first system from an independent high street shop in Walsall. I hadn’t a clue what I was doing. I just asked for a…Continue

Hello all, those of you who have visited Tom Tom will be well aware that I have a very bad habit when it comes to collecting rare Naim items and we're setting up a museum here at the Green Room for you to come and see these wonderful pieces of history.
From time to time we'll be sharing some of these items on the blog starting with the prototype NAP 500 amplifier that was built for Julian Vereker to 'sign off' for production before his untimely death,
This is truly my most…Continue

Here we are James. Sorry to be posting these so late. There is slight distortion on the photos due to…Continue
Well thanks to the Festival of Sound demo I find myself quite a bit poorer having ordered both a new NDS and a new 555ps dr. Having previously heard the NDS a few times I was convinced of its merits over the NDX but what I hadn't bargained for was the significant improvements made by the dr upgrades.
Having explored the timescale and likely cost of upgrading my own 555ps I succumbed to ordering a new one.
As always James extracted the money (and some of my current Naim kit)…Continue

James was after potted histories so here goes (though not sure I know what a blog is and I daren't ask my daughter!)
First Naim product: 2nd hand 42.5 / 110 (with 140 boards)
Current System (Deep breath): XPS2…Continue
James asked me to give a potted history of my experience with Naim. Here goes:
1987 Linn LP12 with Basik arm, Creek amp and Linn Index Speakers. The Creek amp lasted all of 6 week because I had heard the Naim Nait in the demo and just had to have it. This was my introduction to Naim.
1988 Upgraded to black Ittok LVII. Audiotech wall shelf and Sound Organisation tables.
1989 Upgraded Nait to NAC62 and NAP140
1993 Naim CDI. Although I was and still am mostly…Continue
I just want to thank everyone who supported the event. We all had the most amazing weekend and I could not be luckier to have a set of clients like you all.
You make this job an absolute pleasure.
I'd also like to thank my good friends at Naim, Doug, Mark, Jason, Steve & Trevor who did the most wonderful job from start to finish and of course my own team Henry, Mary & Debbie
Big thanks to James and his elves for this very interesting "do".
Big up for NAIM too.

My mainly NAIM system has grown from it's original, by accident entry in to NAIN land of 12s/NAP160.
This 1989 purchase of a new LP12 had blown the budget for new Arcam pre/power combo,. So we had to "make do" with the NAIM and LP12 /basic arm and cart, into AR8 speakers. Incidently these items…Continue

Just a comment to say thanks to everyone for the fantastic demonstration today. An excellent afternoon. In the words of young Mr Grace "You've all done very well!"
I am looking forward to the 10th birthday party.
