Ok, so my naim story only started about three years ago when I became the ownder of a nac112 and nap150 to go with my ATC40's. The nac was soon replaced by a 72. Yes I know the 150 runs out of breath with the ATC speakers but not before I have a grin on my face - someday I can see a 250 replacing it.

Source is a Squeezebox touch, cheapie Sony DVD and Beresford Caiman DAC. Looking to invest in the source I'm planning on an apple mac mini with ipad and now have the following dilema...

NDAC vs DAC-V1

The V-1 does so much that appeals - headphone amp, remote control, easy async USB, saves money especially as I'll p/ex my 72, temptation to upgrade power supply on both the ndac and 72 removed which would make a 250 more reachable but at the audition the ndac just sounded right - arghh. I think I'm going to have to go for another listen... does anyone have a perspective that'll help me come to a decision? Help!

I used to have the Naim DAC as well, before moving to the NDS and it is a wonderful piece of kit; some people prefer it to the NDS, but I find this a bit of a stretch. The only way to be sure is listen. The new DAC-V1 is getting good reviews too, but I suspect the original DAC is still the better bet. Source first and all that...
